Client Fit: What You Should Look for in an Agency

Sometimes you just need a project done. Sometimes you need it to be done right. So what’s the real difference? Well needing to get it done comes with a different set of expectations and outcomes than doing it right. Just “doing it” is perfectly ok. In many cases it is preferable. But it is situational. Doing it right usually means there is already some skin in the game as a business. Some revenue expectations, some level of service you need to exceed, some components that you cannot dip below for risk of diminishing value to your business.

Better being aware as a potential client of your business and your expectations will help drive the right client fit. Below we dive into the topic of how best to address finding the right client fit, and our stance on those that we partner best with.

Rahul:  I’m trying to think about, like, client fit.  What they should look for in an agency. It’s just the right fit for me. You know. The size, the people. You know, at the end of the day, a lot of things that we get, if we lose a deal to, it’s sometimes, sometimes it’s definitely cost, right?  But at the end of the day, the reason why we might lose it to cost is, they might have two guys like Vince and Vince Jr. (our cameraman) building a site, and that’s the last person you want to build a site. But he’s able to be more competitive, and he’s able to give a website because it’s Vince’s Web Dev shop and that’s all they’ve asked for, right?  So I think, for us, it’s about empowering a team environment. That you have people thinking about multiple different things as we’re growing that, right? So you have a content strategist that’s a part of the project from day one. You have a project manager. You have an account manager. You have a creative director, you have an art director, you have a QA person, right from day one.

You know? And so, maybe I’m thinking about like, the fact that, I want to talk a little bit about why the difference between a vendorship and a partnership and maybe figuring out like, if you’re picking a vendor, and you’re looking to just cross a line item off, we’re not going to be a good fit for you. But if you’re looking for the value of six to eight people that essentially are bolted on to your marketing business strategy team, that’s us.  We want you to come to us with nine marketing problems and we can work with you at that, right? And we want you to come to us with, you know, technical problems, or past experiences, and we’ll talk about business strategy to fix that. That’s why we’re at the premium that we’re at. And listen, if you’re just looking for a website, don’t call us. We’re not the people that are just going to build you a website and walk away. We’re going to say, “Let’s build you this one phase, because you need this, but let’s support it with these other components.”
